a wonderful time to be alive

I, like everyone, was stunned and deeply saddened to hear of the news of our dear President Hinckley's passing last night. What a wonderful example and a bright beam of sunshine he brought to all of us during his many years of service. I couldn't help but be happy for him though, as I imagined his sweet reunion with his wife and what it must be like to pass through the veil when you are a person such as he is. I had the chance to meet him and shake his hand when I was 16 and the one thing I remember him saying that day is "Isn't it a wonderful time to be alive?!" He was so grateful for every day he had to further the work and strengthen the kingdom. I'm going to try to remember that phrase and keep that same attitude in my own life. I will miss his messages during general conference and other occasions, but I have no doubt he will continue his work with the same enthusiasm among those who I am sure are already his friends. I am so thankful for the blessing of having him as our earthly leader for 13 years.
