san francisco

Adam and I decided we couldn't make it through the summer without taking a vacation...so we headed out to California to visit Rachel, Troy and Reese. We had a blast! Adam had never been there before, so I couldn't wait to show him around and take him to all my favorite places. We got to see some things I hadn't before too, so that was great for me. The first day we went to the city and visited Pier 39, fisherman's wharf and Baker Beach.

Baker Beach is a great spot for views of the Golden Gate Bridge. This is what you see when you first get there.
And once you walk down the sand a little way you see this!
This is at fisherman's wharf...another one of my favorite San Francisco spots.

The second day we were there Rachel gave us a tour of the beautiful wine country in Napa Valley. She and Troy are living not far from there and it was fun to get out in the country and experience something way different from the city. I had never been to Napa before, and I loved it. We toured a couple of wineries and just enjoyed the beautiful countryside.

This is an adorable market we passed along the way to see the wineries. It reminded me of something from a movie and was just so picture perfect I had to make Adam pull over so I could take this picture.

The next day it was back to San Francisco for a tour of Alcatraz. That was another thing I hadn't done before, and it was really neat. We took a ferry out to the island and then took an audio tour through the prison. It was so interesting.

This is the pier we left from on our ferry

This is the view of San Francisco from Alcatraz Island...beautiful!

The last day of our trip Adam and I went to the city by ourselves to explore a little more. We went to Golden Gate park and also by the Painted Ladies...the houses from the tv show Full House.

This is a gorgeous waterfall at Golden Gate Park. It is such a cool park because it's huge and you can almost forget you're in the middle of San Francisco.

Here we are in front of the famous Painted Ladies
